Our summer internship program will give interns a project based learning experience that will strive to build your understanding of how a medical device business operates, enhance your skillset and grow your network. This internship will provide practical, professional experience for the college student while contributing to the overall goals of the Design Assurance (DA) team.

The Intern Design Assurance Engineer will be a member of multidisciplinary teams supporting new product development and sustaining project teams where product design changes are implemented. Key activities include providing support during the design and development process as well as evaluation of product or process changes and post-market surveillance information. This internship is a great opportunity for a student who wants to develop their practical knowledge and technical acumen to further understand what it takes to bring a medical device to market and maintain compliance within the ever changing regulatory field of Medical Devices. The intern will assume a primary role in projects working either independently or as part of a team, as well as perform other activities that will support the over all objectives of the area they are assigned to.

Position Responsibility:
  • Support DA team in contributing to new product development and sustaining projects.
  • Support DA team in closing outstanding Design Assurance Quality Plans in Agile.
  • Develop new Use Flow charts in parallel with user requirements.
  • Provide assistance with closing out open Standards Assessments.
  • Sit in different project teams to gain knowledge of design reviews and understand gate reviews.
  • Assist in completing RoHS reports to meet compliance with European regulatory requirements.
  • Work on projects that will help develop analytical, audit, research, testing and validation skills.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and forms.
  • Use Excel, Word, Project Management, or Visio to create correspondence, spreadsheets, forms, graphs, flowcharts, etc.
  • Provide customer service to the department’s internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant quality and regulatory/legal requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
