Job Description

Responsible for administration of all occupational health services to ensure the health and well being of employees. Provides professional nursing service and first aid to employees or persons who become ill or injured on-site, and coordinates off-site care, as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Professionally and efficiently evaluate and treat all illnesses and injuries within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines. Make referrals to outside healthcare providers for continued care as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidential medical records related to Occupational Health and Worker’s Compensation programs.
  • Responsible for Worker’s Compensation claims filing, review, and coordination with insurance carrier and Worker's Compensation Board.
  • Assist with the accident investigation program to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses.
  • Work collaboratively with claims staff, injured worker, employer and health professionals to promote quality medical care and timely Return-to-Work (RTW) to achieve optimum, cost-effective medical and vocational outcomes. Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and RTW options for workers with restricted duty.
  • Monitor restricted and lost time cases for status changes in any employee’s ability to perform job.
  • Support administration of Company disability and medical leave benefit programs as requested.
  • Administer annual flu vaccines to plant-based employees.
  • Assist with the development of programs such as Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), Hearing Conservation Program, Respiratory Protection Program, First Responder Team, Personal Protective Equipment, and Industrial Hygiene Monitoring.
  • Coordinate First Responder Team, provides First Aid/CPR/AED training and Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training, and coordinates associated immunizations, as needed.
  • Review jobs for physical demands and completes ergonomic workstation evaluations.
  • Responsible for administering ergonomic stretching program.
  • Responsible for input of information into the Injury Reporting database, while continuously monitoring the database activities to track rates and trends.
  • Responsible for input of information for OSHA Recordkeeping requirements, and assists with health and safety internal reporting on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Coordinate and interface with Company-designated ocupational health providers (accompanies employees to doctor’s appointments, as needed).
  • Provide health and wellness education and coaching to employees as needed and assigned.
  • Maintain medical area and equipment in an orderly, clean and sanitary condition, and order and maintain adequate inventory of nursing supplies for multiple sites.
  • Design, implement, and coordinate an in-house drug and alcohol testing and reasonable suspicion program (e.g. oral swabs).
  • Provide support to the manufacturing operation during business and non-business hours.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
