Job Description

The EH&S Specialist is a key member of the EH&S team and is a highly visible position. This is an opportuntiy to play a key role in the design and implementation of world class EH&S systems. Areas of specialty for this position, while having a general knowledge company-wide, will focus on compliance monitoring and reporting in all areas of the company. This position would also respond to incidents and participate in incident investigations. This is an entry-level position within field, and does not require experience in the discipline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with annual department goals according to key metrics (ex- lost time accidents) that are measured throughout the organization.
  • Routine monitoring of production to promote safe working conditions.
  • Maintain and update policies, programs, and reports, as needed.
  • Plans and implements programs to train supervisors and employees to meet standards and also to enhance the company safety culture.
  • Assists with new employee safety orientation program and employee safety training.
  • Perform EH&S Audits to detect existing or potential hazards, participates in identifting corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Participate and lead incident investigations.
  • Perform safety observations and support program oversight and administration.
  • Adminster PPE reimbursement programs (e.g. prescription safety glasses).
  • Maintain and update EH&S training records.
  • Responds to employee suggestions concerning safety matters.
  • May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other health and safety related activities depending business demands.
  • Maintain and update SDS and related material.
  • Lead Job Safety Analyses and other elements of safety integral to EHS performance.
  • Participate with and lead ergonomic initiatives (e.g. stretching programs).
  • Perform noise studies for operations with potential elevated noise levels.
  • Help coordinate Industrial Hygiene sampling and reporting.
  • Assist with Radiation Safety Program and act as assistant Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • May participate in prepareing OSHA logs and other reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Support the Occupational Medical Program, as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Manages in order to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory/legal requirements
