Job Description

The VP, Procurement will be an integral/active participant in the development of the global supply chain strategy, and its' execution. Lead the Strategic Sourcing team in evaluating markets for materials used in the production of AngioDynamics products, targeting key suppliers of these materials to assume or consolidate volume, and negotiating and executing long term supply agreements that deliver value to AngioDynamics. Examine existing policies and procedures for opportunities to streamline Strategic Sourcing activities, eliminate waste, and better satisfy the company’s growing global product sourcing and distribution needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively support the new product development process to ensure sustainable and cost competitive materials are specified and procured.
  • Support R&D activities from project inception through transfer to manufacturing.
  • Examine existing policies and procedures for opportunities to streamline Strategic Sourcing activities, eliminate waste, and better satisfy the company’s growing global product sourcing and distribution needs.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and operational excellence business partners to identify material change opportunities, and drive the resulting projects to completion.
  • Partner with the supply chain team to optimize inventory investment while leveraging volume to drive positive PPV results.
  • Develop integration strategies for newly acquired products and businesses.
  • Integrate indirect materials and services sourcing/spend, streamline associated procurement processes, and deliver value by consolidating the supply base.
  • Responsible for year over year savings goal in procurement.
  • Recruit, train, and manage supply chain resources.
  • Develop and communicate annual direct material and indirect material/service budget based on business forecasts and projected manufacturing volumes.
  • Work with team to monitor materials and services markets by category, identify market changes, and determine their effect on procurement strategies and activities.
  • Engage with direct reports to develop a professional team prepared to execute plans according to organizational strategic objectives.
  • Manage functional area strategies to deliver World Class Procurement services through supplier relationship management and management of worldwide spend, providing guidance for direct reporting teams and internal global partners.
  • Monitor supplier performance, spend data, and other internal and market metrics to identify improvement opportunities to create sustainable successful solutions.
  • Design and implement sourcing strategies that support business plans and are adaptable to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Develop procedures for coordination of Strategic Sourcing with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, and quality assurance.
  • Build and develop strategic sourcing professionals across both technical and leadership capabilities while creating an environment that is diverse, inclusive, and encouraging.
  • Create a shared vision by embedding and integrating the role of strategic sourcing into various parts of the business.
  • Support broader strategic sourcing leadership team on goal setting and annual planning.
  • Develop long term portfolio category strategies that are directly linked to functional cost savings objectives and AngioDynamics goals.
  • Provides high level guidance on the overall continuous strategic sourcing process from needs identification, through supplier performance management across multiple corporate services categories.
  • Maintain strong external focus by leveraging industry peers, organizations, associations and by continuing to build strong relationships outside of AngioDynamics.
  • A champion for change that can act decisively to drive decisions, while demonstrating agility to support the evolution of business needs.
  • Builds effective strategic relationships with external suppliers to drive and execute category strategies.
  • Analyze annual direct and indirect material purchase volumes and determine opportunities to reduce cost based on negotiations, volume commitments, etc. Deliver year over year cost savings. Support strategic spend reduction initiatives.
  • Determine risk levels associated within supply base (ex. sole source suppliers) and develop alternates as required. Use formal risk analysis methods and implement business processes to minimize risk.
  • Manage supplier development/validation according to the sourcing strategic plan for the R&D departments as they develop new products/components.
  • Oversee process to maintain supplier files. Review, manage, and maintain Supply Agreements for purchased materials. Identify supplier relationships that need Supply Agreements and implement.
  • Support insourcing and outsourcing activities; identify and develop potential suppliers. Lead cross-functional make/buy review on existing products.
  • Procurement Execution
    • Approve purchase orders and requisitions based on raw material strategies, system signals, and delegation of authority guidelines.
    • Improve ERP configuration to increase reliability of MRP signals
    • Optimize use of kanban and consignment agreements
    • Prioritize incoming materials for inspection
    • Report supplier performance in monthly business review meetings
  • Capacity Management
    • Identify, communicate, and mitigate both short and long term supplier capacity constraints
    • Analyze high risk situations (i.e., sole/single sources) and develop contingency plans
  • Project Management
    • Develop and implement project ideas with a high business impact
    • Drive continuous improvement
    • Support validation projects as required.
